UPDATE: We will be hosting this event across the street at the former Bear State location (1401 HWY 62/65 N, Harrison AR 72601) to make use of the covered area there!

Arvest Bank and Shred-It will host a free Shred-A-Thon for the Harrison community on Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arvest Bank branch located at 1402 Hwy 62-65 North at the corner of Hester Drive.

The Harrison community is invited to bring personal documents that need to be disposed of properly to reduce the risk of having confidential information compromised and their identity stolen. There is a limit of five boxes per household for shredding.

“When it comes to protecting their identity, both digitally and with printed documents, consumers need to take advantage of every safety measure possible,” said Scott Tennyson, market president for Arvest Bank in Harrison. “Our annual Shred-A-Thon provides our community with a trusted resource for shredding documents, while also protecting the environment through recycling.”

Document shredding will take place on-site, so residents can be assured that personal information has been destroyed. The event is free, but monetary donations will be accepted to support Ozark Share and Care, a local hunger relief organization, to help feed hungry families in the Harrison community.

The Shred-A-Thon is one of several projects Arvest Bank is holding to help fight hunger in Boone County, as part of the bank’s annual Million Meals campaign that lasts through June 1.  As part of the Million Meals campaign, Arvest encourages associates, customers and the general public to drop off nonperishable food items or monetary donations at any Arvest Bank branch across the four-state area the bank serves. The goal is to collect a minimum of one million meals across the bank’s footprint to reduce food insecurity in local communities. All donations to the campaign remain local.

During the past three years, a total of 24,175 pounds of paper have been destroyed at the Shred-A-Thon and cash donations on-site provided 13,152 meals to those who receive food through Ozark Share and Care.

Refreshments will be available at the Shred-A-Thon while supplies last and radio station 102.9 “The Z” will broadcast on-site from 10 a.m. to noon.
