Arvest Bank in Harrison will help add an additional element of fun to the community’s observance of St. Patrick’s Day during the days leading up to the celebration of Irish-American culture.

Arvest is currently taking pre-orders for singing St. Patrick’s Day telegrams that will be led by Chris the Leprechaun on March 12 and 13. On those dates, the leprechaun will sing an Irish song to the recipient of telegram, while jovially wishing everyone he encounters on the way to delivering the telegram a “Happy St. Patrick’s Day.”

Those interested in sending a singing telegram may sign up at the Arvest Bank branch at 1402 Hwy. 62-65 N. in Harrison. The cost is $10 per telegram. Senders will need to provide the name and address of the recipient of the singing telegram.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Ozark Share and Care, a local hunger relief organization.

“This is a fun opportunity to surprise friends, co-workers or students with some pre-St. Patty’s Day cheer - and we’re pretty sure our leprechaun will put on a great show,” said Scott Tennyson, market president of Arvest Bank in Harrison. “While this is all in good fun, more importantly, this event is part of our bigger mission to reduce food insecurity in North Central Arkansas.”

Tennyson said the singing telegrams take place a couple of weeks before Arvest Bank launches its annual Million Meals campaign. The campaign encourages associates, customers and communities to donate nonperishable food items or monetary contributions at any Arvest Bank location during a two-month period. All local donations benefit local food partners. In Harrison, Arvest’s food partner is Ozark Share and Care, a food pantry and thrift store that benefits those in need.
