Senior citizens in the Paris, Ark., community will benefit from a $4,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.

The gift was announced recently at the Paris Senior Citizen Center. Tami Moffet and Heather Appleton of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check.

The funds will be used to provide a warm meal the elderly patrons that attend the center as well as to help pay for food deliveries to the homes of area senior citizens.

“The Paris Senior Citizen Center is so grateful to the Arvest Foundation for this wonderful grant,” said Linda Cox, executive director of the Paris Senior Citizen Center. “It will help us continue our mission to help the senior citizens of this area by helping to provide the seniors a  place to come each day to be with other seniors and participate in activities to help their well-being. The grant will help us provide nutritional meals to seniors, both in our center every day, and to the participants that we deliver meals to in their home. Being able to provide home-delivered meals to homebound seniors allow them to stay in their homes as long as possible. It alleviates food insecurities for these seniors. When we deliver a meal, it also gives our drivers a chance to do a wellness check on the homebound every day.

“As a non-profit, this grant will enable us to provide meals to more seniors. There is a great need for the senior centers and this will help us continue to keep our doors open. This donation is a continuing reminder of the support that we have in the Paris community.”

“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support the Paris Senior Citizen Center,” Appleton said. “It supports efforts to provide opportunities for community members to have warm meals and a place to gather together, and is just one of many we have made throughout the area. It demonstrates the foundation’s ongoing commitment to our community and all its members.”
