Children in the Mena community will have a safe place to practice basketball thanks to a $10,000 donation from the Arvest Foundation.

The gift was announced at the Mena City Hall. Shawna Powell, Erica Sullivan, Theresa Young, Damon Miller, Chris Thrailkill and Mandy Rowe of Arvest Bank were on hand to present the check.

The funds will be used to rebuild the basketball courts at Janssen Park. This improvement will please many local community members, as Janssen Park is a frequently visited park in Mena.

“We are grateful to the foundation for their generous contribution to the City of Mena.” said George McKee, mayor of the city of Mena. “These funds will be used to rebuild the basketball courts in Janssen Park. The park is a well-loved feature of the community and the improved basketball courts will certainly benefit citizens from the entire area. The City of Mena is very pleased to partner with Arvest Bank on this exciting new project.”

“We are pleased to present this donation on behalf of the Arvest Foundation to support the City of Mena.” said Young, branch sales manager. “This donation is just one of many we have made throughout our footprint. It demonstrates the foundation’s ongoing commitment to local communities in the region.”
