Non-profits to receive proceeds from 20th annual Arvest Charity Golf Tournament.

YELLVILLE, Ark. – Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas and South Central Missouri is now accepting letters of request from area non-profit organizations who wish to be considered for the 2016 Arvest Charity of the Year program. The program, which is in its 20th year, was created to give a financial boost to non-profit organizations through the annual Arvest Charity Golf Tournament.

A selection committee of Arvest associates will select up to three charities that will share 100 percent of the proceeds from the golf tournament. Charitable organizations in the Baxter, Boone and Marion counties in Arkansas, and Howell County in Missouri, are encouraged to apply for consideration as a Charity of the Year.

“Non-profit organizations work tirelessly to support so many needs of the community and they often operate on a budget that doesn’t allow every need to be met,” said Tiffany Watkins, Assistant Vice President and Marketing Director for Arvest Bank in North Central Arkansas. “The Charity of the Year program and golf tournament allow us to pull together as a community and support a few of these organizations that serve us every day.”

Final selection as a charity of the year is based on past, present and future financial needs, along with other criteria. To qualify, the charity must be a designated IRS 501(c)(3) organization and must submit a letter to the committee explaining why their organization should be selected.

“This program raised more than $16,000 last year, and in 2014, in support of local charities. Both of those years we raised more funds than we have ever collected during our program history,” said Watkins. “We would love to celebrate our 20th year of this project with a new record amount!”

Letters of application to be considered as a 2016 Charity of the Year are due no later than Friday, April 15, 2016. All applications should be mailed to: Arvest Bank Charity Committee, Attn: Tiffany Watkins, P.O. Box 325, Yellville, AR, 72687, or they may be emailed to twatkins@arvest.com

The 20th Annual Arvest Charity Golf Tournament will take place Saturday, August 27, 2016 at the Twin Lakes Golf Course in Mountain Home. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are available at all levels. Call (870) 449-7164 for more information.
