Veteran Art Contest Winners in Southwest Oklahoma

In front of a full audience, young artists across Southwest Oklahoma were awarded for their work in Arvest Bank’s “Thank A Veteran” art contest on Veterans Day at the Armed Services YMCA.

More than 360 entries came in from all five communities Arvest serves in the region. A few even came in from as far away as Dallas.
After a month-long submission period, members of the Lawton-Fort Sill chapter of Oklahoma Women Veterans chose first-, second- and third-place finishers in three different age groups.
The winners are:
Kindergarten-1st grade
  • 1st – Lily Lang
  • 2nd – McKenzie Mullendore
  • 3rd – Peyton Young
2nd-3rd grade
  • 1st – Najja Carnail
  • 2nd – Korbin Delozier
  • 3rd – Carsen Copeland
4th-6th grade
  • 1st – Cora Sullivan
  • 2nd – David Halliburton
  • 3rd – Kai Aguilar
Lawton attorney Ken Sue Doerfel gave a heartfelt speech about her father’s service in the military and what it means to serve one’s country. The Eisenhower High School Junior ROTC presented the Colors, and the Eisenhower High School Gentry Singers sang the Star Spangled Banner and a stirring medley of various patriotic songs.
