Small Business Education Series in Kansas City

Calling small business owners and entrepreneurs in Greater Kansas City! You are invited to attend a session in Arvest’s Small Business Education Series targeted to businesses in the start-up phase. The session will be held on April 4, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Central Exchange* located at 1020 Central St. Suite 100, Kansas City, Mo.

This will be a panel-style presentation that will be highly interactive. The panelists are all professionals of their trade, ready to share their secrets and knowledge. There will be a CPA, marketing expert, banker, small business attorney, and a previous small business owner and Kauffman Fasttrac executive. Each professional will give a five-minute presentation about their industry and then it’ll be opened up to the audience. Please register* and pay for the event online.

Pascale Henn, Pascale Henn Business Law Advisors, LLC
Pascale Henn practices in the area of commercial law, with an emphasis in business contracting, procurement and supply contracting, distributor and dealer sales, government contracting, business formation, commercial real estate, corporate compliance, and corporate policy drafting and implementation. She has over twenty years of experience as legal counsel to Fortune 100 multi-national corporations as well as to small start-ups and sole proprietorships. Henn has practiced as in-house counsel with Sprint, CenturyLink and General Electric’s Employers Reinsurance Corporation. In addition, she has acted as outside legal counsel to business clients of all sizes while practicing with both large and small boutique firms. Many of her clients are government contractors, and she’s guided them through the entire process from bidding to contracting to satisfying compliance requirements. Henn has served on the Board of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City for many years. She has been recognized as Best of the Bar by the Kansas City Business Journal in corporate law and has presented in numerous forums on business and corporate law.

Debbie Leonard, CPA, MBA
The comment most often heard by Debbie is “nah, YOU can’t be a CPA! You have way too much personality!” Debbie Leonard is indeed a CPA of a different breed. She is the business development partner in the CPA Firm of Thill & Leonard, CPAs, LLC and specializes in business planning, taxation, efficiency implementation and growth strategies. She has been recognized as a Small Business Advocate from the SBA for her work with start-up companies, helping to get their accounting on track from inception. Leonard provides a unique “whole business” perspective when consulting with businesses. In addition to being an expert in accounting and tax, she also holds an MBA in marketing and finance and earned her CCIM ( Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, being recognized as an expert in commercial real estate. Leoard is a frequent speaker and an author of the newly released book, “The C’Crets of Networking.”

Michele Markey, Vice President of Kauffman FastTrac
Michele Markey is vice president of Kauffman FastTrac, a global provider of educational programs that equip aspiring and established entrepreneurs with the business skills and insights, tools, resources, and networks to start and grow successful businesses. Kauffman FastTrac was created by the Kauffman Foundation, the largest foundation whose mission is to advance entrepreneurship as a key to growing economies and expanding human welfare.

Markey has been a guest contributor for MSNBC, MarketWatch, Bloomberg News, AARP and many other national and local publications. Additionally, she has been a featured expert for the American Management Association and has worked with hundreds of businesses to develop their business growth strategies including American Airlines, University of California Berkley, The Gap, Sprint and Coca Cola. Markey is also recognized as a thought leader in the areas of female entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship as a next career for people over the age of 50; she has authored several articles and columns on these topics. Markey holds undergraduate degrees in political science, social studies and education and a master’s degree in business. Carolyn Rouchka, Business Banker for Arvest Bank
Throughout her career Rouchka has held a variety of positions in several industries, such as director of public relations, special events and fashion coordinator, marketing representative, account manager, director, small business owner, bank manager, and VP of small business. Rouchka currently holds the position of Business Banker for Arvest Bank in Greater Kansas City.

In all of her experiences, the one common thread has been relationship building; listening to the needs of her clients and putting those needs first. Arvest Bank offers its customers a wide range of products and service products, similar to those offered by larger banks with the service of a community bank. Carolyn feels networking is key in meeting people and being able to connect clients to resources outside of the bank. She is no stranger to Central Exchange and attends many of the programs each year. Carolyn serves on the Lyceum Committee and chairs the Advocating for Women Committee.
