The Journey is a non-denominational church that has been in Russellville, Ark., since 1995 with a second location in Clarksville, Ark., since 2011. As a church, they don’t view others churches as competitors but instead see them as allies. They offer a unique approach in style and philosophy of ministry. Their approach is to create environments that engage people who don’t normally attend church. In order to do this, they purposefully create surroundings, services and sermons with those people in mind.  They are not content to hold gatherings that appeal only to those who are already part of their congregation.

The Journey* believes they are called to meet both the spiritual and practical needs of people so serving the community is a big part of their mission. Some of the community service they’ve provided includes:

  • A mission trip to an orphanage in Guatemala where they provided medical care and medicine for over 500 patients. The team also repainted and performed maintenance on a basketball court and soccer field.
  • A Christmas breakfast for 230 families in the community.
  • A class for refugees to learn English.
  • A Christmas party for the children of Southern Christian Home* where they presented gifts from the children’s wish lists.
  • A free garage sale where items normally sold at a spring garage sale were donated to needy families.

Arvest worked with The Journey for their second campus launch in Clarksville from restructuring the church’s loans in Russellville to working through the construction financing of the Clarksville campus. Arvest’s commercial banker assisted with financing; serviced needs of the accounts; and explored options and solutions for point-of-sale commerce systems, technological equipment and vehicles. The Journey said, Arvest utilizes the expertise of various staff to assist in finding solutions and is always quick to assist in whatever the church needs.
