Never Too Young to Open First Savings Account

Scout Jennings was very excited to open her own savings account with Arvest Bank in Fayetteville, Ark. She saved some money from chores and had birthday money from recently turning five. Scout sat down with “Mr. Tim” (Tim Barker, Financial Service Representative in Fayetteville) and handed him her mason jar full of bills and coins. Tim was patient and explained to Scout about the Cool Blue Savings account and how the bank would keep her money safe.

Scout was proud to conduct this transaction all by herself (her mom, a commercial lender at the same branch, was a couple offices away) and was especially proud of the new blue piggy bank Tim gave her. You could see Scout starting to think when Tim told her his son opened a savings account when he was Scout’s age and now he is getting ready to buy his own car!
