Mary Martha Outreach in Bartlesville, Okla. was founded in 1998 in a small room of an old school. As they quickly began to grow, Arvest Bank provided MMO with a low-rent building the following year until 2005, when they then moved into a 55,000-
square-foot building that was large enough to accommodate the organization’s needs and goals.
What does MMO do? Their mission statement says it all:
MMO, on Christian founded principles, is an organization that supplies food, clothing, furniture, household items, books and haircuts to all people regardless of origin, race, color, gender or sexual orientation. MMO supplies all of these services at no charge in a manner that protects and upholds the dignity of individuals and encourages them to improve their quality of life through their own actions.
So far in 2012, MMO has fed nearly 15,000 people, and in 2011, distributed 800,300 lbs. of food to the three northeastern Oklahoma counties and two southern Kansas counties MMO serves. They were also able to provide 117,000 items of clothing in 2011.
Like many of the other 1 Million Meals food partners, MMO depends on volunteers and donations to keep the organization running. In particular, MMO always needs canned goods, towels, sheets and silverware for their clients.
As a food partner for 1 Million Meals, Mary Martha Outreach in Bartlesville, Okla. and the other 43 local emergency food organizations will be directly benefiting from the one million meals raised. Help us help them.
