"Arvest Bank Blitz" with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity

Friday, June 05 at 08:46 AM

LEED-Certified energy efficient home made possible by $70,000 grant from Arvest Bank

This Saturday, June 6, Arvest Bank will raise walls on a home with Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity in the housing ministry’s new neighborhood, Hope Crossing, located at NE 83rd Street and Kelley Avenue. Bank executives are excited about building a LEED-Certified energy efficient home for the Habitat homebuyer family.

Arvest Bank is contributing a $70,000 grant that will make purchase of materials and contract labor possible to construct this home.  Extremely low costs to heat and cool it, combined with Habitat’s no-profit, no-interest mortgage, will maximize the home’s affordability for its family.

Last year, Arvest Bank announced it was contributing $250,000 over three years to Habitat for Humanity. Arvest’s plan calls for full construction of four homes and partial builds on nine others. These homes will be located in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas.

In addition, Arvest customers can participate during June by purchasing a “paper brick” for $1.00 at any Oklahoma City area branch location. Money raised will be donated to Habitat.

“What a wonderful opportunity we have to contribute to the welfare of a family. We are thrilled to be able to help. Our employees have rallied around this effort and are excited to hand over the keys to this deserving family,” said Kelly Brander, Arvest Bank, Oklahoma City, President and CEO.

"We could not be more excited about this partnership with Arvest Bank,” said Ann Felton, Chairman/CEO of Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity in Oklahoma City.  “One in ten families in the Oklahoma City metro area still lives below the poverty level.  Corporate partners like Arvest Bank will help us offer more of them the hope of a better, more stable and secure life through home ownership.”

The “Arvest Bank Blitz” is to take place over three weeks.  Dedication of the finished house is scheduled for June 26.
