Category: Arvest News

Limited edition cards to display popular destinations across Oklahoma.

Arvest Bank and the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department collaborated to create a series of specialty debit cards that showcase some of the state’s most popular state park attractions.

The six debit card designs feature images from throughout the state, including Beavers Bend, Boiling Springs, Lake Murray, Osage Hills, Robbers Cave and Roman Nose. The cards will be available to new and current Arvest Bank customers at any bank location across Oklahoma, as well as the communities the bank serves in Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri, on May 22.

“This opportunity gives our customers access to unique designs for their specialty cards, along with the ability to show their sense of pride in Oklahoma State Parks and promote it every time a transaction is made,” said Angela Spradlin, Southwest Oklahoma marketing manager for Arvest Bank. “These six cards showcase distinct places, but each one displays some of the inherent beauty to be found in the state of Oklahoma.”

“In celebrating 80 years of Oklahoma State Parks, we want to share all of the wonderful sites Oklahoma offers, so it was an easy decision to partner with Arvest Bank, and to have the opportunity to promote our parks outside the state as well,” said Kris Marek, director of Oklahoma State Parks.

Debit cards are free to customers who open a new account with Arvest or they may be purchased to replace an existing card for $7.50.  See the limited-edition designs on our website.

Bentonville Public Library Featured on Debit Card

Tuesday, March 07 at 06:45 AM
Category: Arvest Community News
Show your support for lifelong learning with the new Bentonville Public Library debit card from Arvest!
Featuring BPL’s beautiful architecture in Northwest Arkansas, you will display your love for the library each time you use the debit card! Besides showing off one of Bentonville’s landmarks, Arvest will donate $1 to the Bentonville Library Foundation for each card issued.
According to Library Director Hadi Dudley, “I am so pleased about our partnership with Arvest on this project. I hope all library lovers will show their affinity for BPL and request our special debit card.”
To create the artwork, Bentonville Public Library coordinated designs with Arvest; BPL also enlisted the help of local photographer Lance Macmaster who took the photo during the library’s 10-year anniversary festivities last fall. “I think it turned out beautifully,” says Dudley.
“Arvest is pleased to support local organizations and schools through our affinity card program,” says Robyn Breshears, EVP sales manager for Arvest Benton County. “We appreciate the wonderful programs and services that the Bentonville Library, and its foundation, provide to our local community and are encouraged by the fact that our debit card will help to increase exposure and support for this incredible organization.”
These specialty debit cards are free when you open any new checking account or replace an expired card. For existing customers, a $7.50 replacement fee may apply.
Non-traditional debit cards are a growing trend in recent years as customers ask for stylish options. Arvest Bank issued its first affinity card in 2008 in Northwest Arkansas and launched a full affinity card program in 2011, developing cards for local high school sports teams.
For more information about Arvest’s affinity cards, please visit or call (866) 952-9523.

Customer Question: “What is a merchant card data breach?”

Thursday, December 29 at 01:30 PM
Category: Personal Finance
Customer Question: “What is a merchant card data breach? Is it safe to use my debit card?”

A merchant data breach is when an unauthorized party accesses a merchant computer network and steals cardholder data. In these types of breaches, the impacted cardholders are those who used their cards at the breached merchant. They typically impact cardholders at multiple banks.

Unfortunately, merchant data breaches are becoming more common with 974 publicly disclosed data breaches in the first half of 2016 alone, according to the Breach Level Index*.

Arvest, along with other banks in the region, is seeing some fraudulent transactions on less than one-half of one percent of our debit cards as a result of a merchant data breach at one or more merchants. This is NOT an Arvest security breach and includes cards from other banks.
Please know our teams regularly monitor our debit card activity watching for fraudulent transactions. If unusual activity is observed, we will contact you immediately.
As a reminder, you should also regularly monitor your accounts for any unauthorized transactions or suspicious activity and report it immediately. If you see suspicious activity on your Arvest account, please contact Customer Service at (866) 952-9523 or visit your local branch.
It is important for U.S. Visa consumer debit and credit cardholders to know they are protected against fraudulent purchases with Visa’s Zero Liability Policy*.
Remember to practice good financial security by monitoring your accounts and reporting suspicious activity to your card issuer immediately.
Thank you for this question.

Arvest Bank and Visa Account Updater

Thursday, November 17 at 08:00 AM
Category: Arvest News

Beginning in November, Arvest Bank will participate in the Visa Account Updater (VAU) program*. We know the challenges our customers face when it comes to keeping card payment information up-to-date. Outdated card information can lead to declined card transactions and inconvenience. The VAU program allows enrolled merchants to receive automatic, electronic updates any time your debit card information changes.

Examples of situations in which card information changes includes:
  • Card number changes
  • Card expiration date changes
Note, Arvest will not report cancelled debit cards through the VAU program, so customers will need to update their new card information with merchants when the card is cancelled.

By participating in the VAU program, Arvest helps participating merchants manage recurring payments and card-on-file transactions more efficiently. The benefits you will enjoy, thanks to Arvest’s participation in this program, include:
  • A seamless account update process
  • Uninterrupted service from participating merchants
  • Reduced chance of card declination
For more information about Arvest’s participation in the VAU program, call us today at (866) 952-9523.
